To mobilize artists within the San Diego Community to produce new works more frequently.
youTurn aims to create opportunities for performing and visual artists to produce new works in San Diego. The goal is to unify the artistic community, producing artists of all genres.
youTurn 2015: Mark Haim comes to San Diego!!!!
In its fifth and most ambitious event to date, youTurn Contemporary Arts Exhibitionis proud to bring the internationally accomplished choreographer, teacher, and performer Mark Haim to San Diego March 23 - April 4. Haim will present This Land Is Your Land, his most current work, which is critically acclaimed and performed in major cities around the world. For a cross-disciplinary and diverse cast of performers, the work touches upon pressing issues of contemporary life including: consumerism, environmental abuse, body image, and corporate power. The content of this work is politically savvy, and meticulously timed. This Land Is Your Land was named one of the most influential works of the last 15 years in Dance Magazine.
During a two week intensive, more than 15 local San Diego artists are provided the unique opportunity to work with Mark Haim as he re-sets This Land Is Your Land. The performance will take place on two consecutive weekends, April 3, 4, 10, & 11 at 7:30 pm in the White Box Live Arts as part of youTurn 2015. In keeping with its mission for a collaborative show youTurn will also feature live music, visual artists, and the artisan dips and spreads of San Francisco's Nut 'n Bean.
